Well, now that I have your attention. I haven’t got a great idea yet. I am contemplating and trying to conjure up as many as I can. You can call it Mono-Brainstorming. My journey started this year when I had finally left the corporate world to explore the rigid, rocky but very adventurous terrains of entrepreneurship.
Though I had started off as a corporate trainer delving into coaching, training and motivating people on improving their soft-skills like communication, personalities, grooming them for employability. Along the way, I had touched some corporate induction programs and delivered sales training. However, my ever-ticking mind never stops thinking about how to expand this quasi-business that looks more like self-employment than a business itself. As I kept wondering, I had noticed huge gaps in the Indian market. Thousands of things you could do here in this country which still remained untapped. Psst…Come here, You know what? I could have charged for this, but then, this blog is free to read. Eh? Take it as a gift.
- Sale Brokerage Services : Jut like the program I had mentioned I was into, you could just set up a referral business. What on earth is a sale brokerage or referral business? Well, match the merchant with the consumer ( with some kind of an offer for the consumer so that he will come to your merchant in question rather than anyone else!) and make money out of this economic activity. You could take money from the merchant himself for every sale you generate. It takes some leg-work and you need to get your hands dirty initially, but there is a potential gold mine sitting here.
- Set up a consulting firm : Yeah, I heard you yawn. Everyone you know has been there and done that? Not really ! It has always been perceived as a business that only pot-bellied senior uncles who have spent a few decades can do consulting. Not really ! I beg to differ. I would want to assert the fact that anyone who knows anything better than most others and has the balls to stand in front of a group of proud merchants and wannabe entrepreneurs can do the job. You just stand there, hold their hands and belt your passion out, with all that creativity oozing out finally ending up with clientèle who would only be glad that you had met them in the first place.
- Set up a training practice: This is a gold mine in a country like India. Coaching is unheard of and only a handful of freelancers either with a fancy degree or a paunch take it up, as of now. If you had always wanted to talk, loved sharing information, have a confidence that can shame the greeks and carry yourself with a charisma, this is something you ought to give it a try. With the number of clients growing, you might want to start a company with a team of trainers too.
If you had noticed, all these above mentioned business models are all zero-capital businesses and can be started part-time. I come across a lot of people who want to do something on their own but don’t know where and how to start, this might just be it. Oh, do I hear you lamenting again like ” Man, this is still hard work?”. I am probably going to make myself sick over this, but then, move your ass and stop being so lazy. You got to sweat it out, no short-cuts here, sweetie !
